What we do

At ACCBT we use tools and techniques that have been well researched and found to be effective to assist you to better manage emotional and psychological problems you may be facing.

CBT is helpful for a wide range of problems including:

  • Depression

  • Anxiety

  • Panic attacks

  • OCD

  • Poor self-esteem

  • Relationship Problems

  • Stress

  • Eating disorders

  • Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

  • Motivation Issues

For short term problems, you are likely to require only a few sessions. Long standing concerns are more likely to require a longer treatment period.

What is Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)?

CBT has been practiced since the 1960’s and works on the basis that what you feel and do is strongly influenced by what you think. It is not just the events in our lives that lead you to feel a certain way, but how you think about these events that determine how you feel, and how intense these feelings get.

Your behavior is also largely determined by long standing habits as well as the beliefs you hold.

If you suffer from emotional and psychological problems, your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors have often become caught up in a vicious cycle that is hard to break out of. This cycle keeps you trapped and, once in the vicious cycle, it is difficult to know what to do to break it.

CBT will teach you not only to become aware of your unhelpful thinking and behavior styles but also how to change these.

It is, therefore, a goal oriented and practical type of therapy, teaching you how to better manage your problems and enhance your emotional well-being.

There is an abundance of research demonstrating the effectiveness of CBT and in many countries, CBT is the only treatment that the government and private insurance companies will cover.

If you are looking to create change, whether small or BIG, then I welcome hearing from you.
