ACCBT | Auckland Centre for Cognitive Behaviour Therapy

CBT is a type of therapy that has been practiced since the 1960s and works on the basis that what you feel and do is strongly influenced by what you think. It is not just the events in our lives that lead us to feel a certain way, but how we think about these events that determine how we feel and how intense these feelings get.

I found Nikki easy to talk too, her professional guidance and ability to listen to me really helped me finally get out of my head what I needed to understand. I’d happily recommend ACCBT to my friends.

Welcome to the Auckland Centre for Cognitive Behaviour Therapy

Nikki Duke is a New Zealand Registered Psychologist specialising in the treatment field of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. After being awarded a Master of Arts in Psychology from the University of Auckland, Nikki commenced an internship at The Auckland Institute for Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. It was here that Nikki first received hands on training in a field that was relatively new to New Zealand. It did not take long for her to fall in love with a treatment model (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy), that has been found to be greatly successful all over the world. Since completing her Diploma in CBT, fourteen years ago, Nikki has continued working with a wide range of clients in both individual and group settings. Nikki has run many groups for a number of organizations including The Schizophrenia Fellowship, Anger Change Trust, The Auckland Institute for Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and has become a regular speaker for The Incontinence Society. Having been asked to contribute to a number of books by other authors, Nikki has finally decided to condense her knowledge of common difficulties into her own book. Following her own frustration with self-help books that are difficult to read and understand, this book is focused on helping you to help yourself in a simple and straightforward manner.
